iOS 6 Will Be Released Later, Find Out What Time [Chart]

Later on today iOS 6 will be released to the public. If the past was any indicator than Apple will allow users to download the new operating system at 10:00 AM Pacific time, or 1:00 PM Eastern. The update will be free of charge and will be available over-the-air or downloadable on the computer.

Depending on your timezone, we have a chart provided by Fortune showing the different release times around the world. We can’t verify that Apple will follow along with the usual 10:00 AM release, but there is a great chance they will.

When iOS 6 finally hits the upgrade-boxes, we will alert you once again, but this is just a friendly reminder. If you need any additional information on iOS 6, you can find everything you need by clicking here.

Compatible devices include: iPhone 3GS/4/4S – iPod touch 4 – iPad 2/3

Let me know if you will be upgrading to iOS 6 today!

  • Barton

Can this updated OTA or does it have to be updated through iTunes?

  • butlerchick

YES I will! I have been waiting quite anxiously! Lol… For now holding off on getting new iPhone 5 and will just upgrade to IOS6 for all the cool features… If I still want to get the new phone (after all the reviews are in) there will be less of a wait… πŸ™‚ That’s my plan, anyways…

  • Diego

    Definitely will!

  • crosseyed_mofo

from the article “The update will be free of charge and will be available over-the-air”

  • crosseyed_mofo

already have the ios6 gm installed, waiting for passbook functionality to go live

  • mikefrommontreal

I will be downloading it today but with my iPhone 4, there are limited changes that I am going to notice πŸ™

  • crosseyed_mofo

the 4 doesnt get 3d maps or turn by turn… which sucks

  • Yup ..Gotta have the latest and greatest

  • Sergio

Do I need to have wifi on my iPhone 4 to download it? Thank you

  • I’m afraid to update my 3GS … will it be slooooow ??

  • Present

    For me
I prefer to wait and try it on iphone 5

  • SlyRobber

No for me. Not on my iPhone 4. Not till I get my hands on 5.

  • crosseyed_mofo

    im pretty sure you do

  • I will be upgrading today, even though it means losing my untethered jailbreak. There will most likely be a tethered jailbreak released for iOS 6, once they fix Cydia, and I’m fine with that.

  • yep, wifi+power+patience.

  • Fred

I won’t because i will loose my untethered jailbreak and also there is no such new thing on ios 6 everything it present are available through cydia!

  • MrXax

Same here. And am hoping that transit directions go live as well.

  • Jim

I would like to but I hate the fact that I will lose Cydia and who knows how long it could take for a jailbreak to be released it hardly seems worth itfor me to lose all the awesome features that jailbreaking provides and it’s very diss appointing that you will lose the native YouTube app as well as google maps

  • I want to hold off until I hear if it slows things down on the 4S, but I doubt I’ll have the patience and likely just jump right in as soon as it’s available. πŸ™‚

  • crosseyed_mofo

its on my 4S, doesnt slow it down at all

  • Rocketman

It has gone live for me in Toronto. 12:40 pm ET.

  • Awesome, that’s great news. Thanks!

  • mikefrommontreal

    downloading ios6 as we speak.

  • Apple mentioned in the keynote that they weren’t going to bother offering transit directions in their maps app. They were just going to include a list of transit direction apps you could purchase from the App Store. They said they didn’t want to work on something that they didn’t think would be as good as what’s already available in standalone apps.

  • MrXax

It doesn’t appear to slow anything down on my iPhone 4 even, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

  • MrXax

Ah interesting, I didn’t know that; thank you. I thought the old Maps did an okay job. Hopefully Google will release it stand-alone for free.

  • swotam

@f3fcb626d360b17a530cfc3b24b624aa:disqus Works just fine on my 4S, no noticeable decline in speed or performance.

  • Yeah, I’m really hoping Google does that, and soon. I don’t want to go without StreetView for too long. πŸ™‚

  • swotam

@45eecedc79e94dbee03183384fd512e9:disqus I’d suggest that would be a good idea, IIRC it doesn’t work over 3G.

  • That’s awesome. πŸ™‚

  • Great to know! Thanks for the info!

  • Google has a standalone YouTube app available already (although it’ll be interesting to see how well it integrates with the rest of the OS) and I’m really hoping they’ll do the same with maps.

  • Downloading now!!! Just became available for me. πŸ™‚

  • …or not. Weird. It said it was available, and then I clicked download and install, but then nothing downloaded, and when I checked again, it said that 5.1.1 is the current version. Something’s going on behind the scenes…

  • Alright, NOW it’s downloading!

  • Clay

Or go into Cydia and download Protube. It’s like Youtube but better.

  • fernando
