[Update] iPhone 5 Launching October 1st in Canada on Telus?

Update: Inserted below is a screenshot of the Telus roadmap for smartphones, that includes the iPhone 5.

More iPhone 5 rumours are here, and this time they’re Canadian-specific. BGR is reporting the next-generation iPhone 5 will launch on October 1st, according to a ‘reliable’ source from Telus:

We have seen seen an internal Telus document that lists October 1st as the launch date, and while the first could just be a place holder, we do not believe that is the case in this instance. The document lists additional launch dates that are not placeholders — several of the listed dates line up with what we’re hearing from other trusted sources.

Last year, the iPhone 4 was launched in Canada on July 30th, more than a month after the US launch. The 1st of October is a Saturday, and typically iPhone launches have occurred on either Fridays or Thursdays.

Previous rumours have indicated an October iPhone launch, but given that Canadian carriers are usually the last sources to find out release dates, it’s unlikely this is true. The iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS launches had details revealed last minute, and last year’s iPhone 4 launch was made available from Apple Stores themselves.
