Apple has kept a tight lid on details of the next generation iPhone launch. The rumours keep pouring in and this time around, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty claims to have details on iPhone 5 production dates. She met with supply chain correspondents in Taiwan, and issued the following note to clients:
“Apple’s next iPhone will begin production in mid to late August and ramp aggressively” into the calendar fourth quarter.
As for the iPhone 5’s launch, she claims it will be at the end of the fiscal Q3, which falls in line with September launch rumours. It’s interesting to note Huberty did not make any links to this morning’s rumour of an unlocked cheaper $349 ‘iPhone 4S’, but she did bring up rumours of a possible Apple-branded ‘smart’ television:
We also believe Apple is in the early design stages for a TV, which could add $19 billion and $4.50 of annual revenue and EPS longer-term
With the lack of an iPhone being introduced at this year’s 2011 WWDC, everyone is waiting for Apple to release their next generation iPhone. A logical time to announce it would be in the Fall, to align with the public release of iOS 5.
