iPhone 6 Launches Set for Sept. 19, But 5.5″ Model in Limited Quantities [Rumour]

Apple’s iPhone media event is set to take place in less than 24 hours and a new rumour claims both 4.7” and 5.5” models will launch on September 19, but the latter in limited quantities, reports iGen.fr. The company has previously debuted iPhone sales two Fridays after its media events, so the date is no surprise.

However, according to the French site’s sources, both models are being shown to be available on September 19, while another source claims the 5.5” model will only be available in limited quantities. MacRumors also corroborated this news, saying an unnamed reliable source noted “two different iPhone models are incoming with the larger model shipping at only half the rates of the smaller one.”

These reports seem to contradict earlier rumours of Apple staggering iPhone 6 launches and the larger 5.5-inch model to be possibly delayed due to production issues.

Last year, Apple launched iPhone 5c pre-orders on September 13 only, while online and in-store iPhone 5s started sales on September 20. It appears the lack of iPhone 5s pre-orders allowed the company to build up more inventory.

What will Apple do this year? Offer pre-orders for both iPhone 6 devices at the same time at launch, or follow a similar model as last year?
