iPhone 6 Most-Searched-For Tech Item of 2014: Yahoo!

According to the latest data from Yahoo UK, Apple beat its rivals Samsung in Nokia in terms of tech terms searches for 2014, as noticed by the The Telegraph.

IPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

You may recall that Apple’s iPhone dominated last year’s searches, but this year we find many iDevices in the top 10 list, notably the iWatch; which isn’t even available yet.

The recently released iPhone 6 turned to be the most popular search among Yahoo using UK and Ireland residents. However, in terms of overall searches, it ranked third, right behind the World Cup 2014 (#1) and Michael Schumacher (#2).

Yahoo is currently pitching Apple’s Eddy Cue to replace the default search engine found on Apple’s Safari browser. For some reason however, Apple is using Bing for Siri’s searches and more recently — with the release of Yosemite — it appealed to Microsoft’s search engine to deliver Spotlight’s web search results.

Since Google’s search engine deal with Apple expires next year, it will be interesting to see who will be the winner of this important Safari position.
