Second ‘iPhone 7’ Speaker Actually a Mic, Claims “Leaked” Schematics

It seems like everything we know about the upcoming ‘iPhone 7’ has already “leaked”, with signs pointing to a similar design to the iPhone 6/6S (minus revamped antenna bands on the rear), improved rear cameras (dual-cameras for the ‘Plus’?), the elimination of the 3.5mm headphone jack and possibly a haptic feedback Home button.

We’ve seen images of so-called ‘iPhone 7’ dummy units appear online, with the bottom showing a second speaker grille. However, according to a somewhat sketchy-looking “leaked” schematic (via NoWhereElse.fr), which apparently comes from an Apple supplier, the second speaker may just be hiding a microphone underneath, according to the images below:

Apple’s current iPhone 6S has a mic on the bottom next to the headphone jack. According to Apple, here are the three mic locations on your iPhone:

If there’s an actual speaker grille on the ‘iPhone 7’, we would probably think it’s actually a speaker. However, as we’ve seen with the iPhone SE design, the second speaker grille is not a speaker, so this has happened before. We’ll have to wait and find out.

Apple’s next iPhone could debut at a rumoured event, possibly on September 7th.
