Apple Introduces New Cases, Accessories for 2017 iPhone Lineup

Apple today debuted the brand-new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, among other products, during its special event. To supplement these upcoming releases, Apple has also introduced a number of new wireless accessories and cases in a variety of new colours.

One of the most notable additions is a new Leather Folio case, designed especially for the iPhone X. The front cover flips over to protect the smartphone’s display when not in use. Priced at $129 CAD, the case comes in a number of colourways, including Taupe, Cosmos Blue, Berry, and Black. Since the iPhone X isn’t shipping until November of this year, the cases aren’t yet available for purchase.

Apple has also rolled out new standard silicone and leather cases for the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. Since the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are so similar in size to the existing iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, these cases will also fit the existing generation of iPhone.

Priced at $49 CAD, the silicone cases come in a variety of colours, including Rose Red, Ultra Violet, Pink Sand, and (PRODUCT)RED.

The leather cases, priced at $69 CAD, are also available in a wide selection of colours, including Dark Aubergine, Taupe, Saddle Brown, and Black.

Apple claims that all of these cases can be used while charging your iPhone wirelessly, meaning you won’t have to remove the case when putting the iPhone on a charging pad.

While Apple has yet to release its proprietary wireless charging technology, there are two Qi wireless chargers for the iPhone X and iPhone 8 devices, made by Mophie and Belkin. Belkin’s model, shown on the left below, comes in at $69.95 CAD in a white colourway. Mophie’s wireless charging solution, also priced at $69.95 CAD, comes in black. Neither Belkin or Mophie’s wireless chargers are available for purchase yet, nor is there any word on when they will be.

Finally, the iPhone Lightning Dock, which will indeed function perfectly with the new iPhone models, is now available in a new shade of gold to match the new colourway available for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The dock comes in at a cool $69 CAD.

Most of the new iPhone cases are available for delivery this week, with the exception of the iPhone X cases, which are unlikely to be available until November, when the smartphone launches.
