Leaked Images Reportedly Show Internal Foxconn Sketch of Apple’s ‘iPad Pro’

A new internal sketch of Apple’s rumoured iPad Pro has surfaced through a Foxconn employee, giving us a first look at the physical features of the larger tablet.

The employee who captured the sketches of the larger device says mass production of the new iPad will begin soon. This could mean that Apple may launch the device later this year.

“Captured gently by a worker who claims to work in a factory FOXCONN, the snapshot below seems to confirm the existence of the imposing shelf. The employee in question specifies that the phases of testing (EVT) launched in the course of last summer were halted following the recent approval by Apple last prototypes made by a subcontractor and that production top boxes that will host the components of this iPad XXL is about to start.”

The report notes that the device will be between 6.9 and 7.5mm thick, and will feature four integrated speakers (two on top and two on the bottom). The iPad Pro is expected to feature a screen size between 12.2 and 12.9 inches along with an A8X processor, 2GB of RAM, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

It is still unknown as to if or when Apple will launch its larger-screened iPad. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that production would begin sometime in the second quarter of 2015 due to the increased attention on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus production.

ios on an “ipad pro” would be ridiculous. I like my iphone, but the software feels like a fisher price toy at times. I’d rather have a touch enhanced version of OSX running on something that will likely be close to the price range of a macbook air.

I don’t see the mass appeal for a really large tablet without a keyboard. Typing will surely be a chore, portability will be reduced. I see it assisting in limited, niche applications.

If Apple ever releases this device, I believe they would have to tweak iOS for the larger screen. I think it would be unlikely for them to release it with OS X, unless they take the time to make a touch-optimized version.

OS X for iPad Pro… Just wait and see. It’s gonna happen! … (or not).

If to be released it will probably be Apples version of a Cintiq.

  • Nick

I think that is something we all want to see. But I only want Apple to release it if it is good, it works, and it provides a better tablet experience than iOS would.

Apple needs a device to compete with the surface pro…a bigger ipad is not it.

Tablets running full blown operating systems have been around for a very long time now and Apple has never truly approached this space. As I’ve said since the first iPad Air came out, I have a rather high level of confidence that the iPad Pro will be Apples first venture into that market segment.
