MADD Canada Partners with Uber for Safe Rides Home from Calgary Stampede

MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and Uber have partnered together to encourage visitors to the Calgary Stampede to take a safe ride home if they’re inebriated or under the influence of drugs.

“Impaired driving claims hundreds of lives and causes thousands of injuries every year in Canada,” said MADD Canada Chief Executive Officer Andrew Murie. “These tragic deaths and injuries are 100% preventable. MADD Canada and Uber are joining forces to remind everyone that driving impaired is never worth the risk.”

Uber for iOS is MADD Canada’s official designated driving app, with the latter saying “Take the risk out of the mix by planning ahead for a safe and sober ride home.”

Ramit Kar, Uber Western Canada General Manager. “Whether Calgarians want to avoid parking or plan to drink, Uber is the safe, smart alternative to driving to the Stampede grounds.”

According to recent survey of Uber riders by the Benenson Strategy Group, data showed when on-demand transportation options are available, people made safer and better choices to get home.

The Calgary Stampede kicked off today and goes until July 16th. Earlier today, we told you Apple Maps launched transit support for Calgary.
