McDonald’s Mobile Ordering Expands Nationwide Across Canada

Share:

McDonald’s launched their mobile ordering feature in late October, in a limited number of test cities (Edmonton, Hamilton, Quebec City), and later had a second round of expansion cites in November.

Fast forward to December, and it appears a nationwide roll out of the mobile ordering service via the MyMcD’s iOS app is complete, as our quick search of major cities across Canada now shows mobile ordering is possible.

This now includes Victoria, Vancouver, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Fredericton, and St. John’s to name a few cities.

Users looking to place a mobile order will require to register an account, then add either a Visa, Mastercard or American Express card for payment. There’s no in-app Apple Pay payment option yet.

The addition of mobile ordering from McDonald’s lets the fast food chain keep up with other companies such as Starbucks and more recently Tim Hortons, as both of these places also have mobile options in place.

Click here to download MyMcD’s for iOS in the App Store. Let us know how your mobile ordering goes. We have yet to give this a try.

  • Nothing like getting 3/4th of your order faster!
Just to return to retrieve the missing potions right after. Heh 😛

One thing I don’t like about this – they don’t start making your order until you get there. At least with Starbucks mobile order, you pay before you arrive and it’s ready for you when you get there.

With McDonald’s, you pay after you get there and still have to wait for them to make your order.

Montreal had this for a while now, mid November at least.

Would you want your food to sit in the bin for 10 mins or so? Not sure you’d want cold fries LOL. Its sorta like skip the lineup/express order.

You would obviously place the order close enough for it to be ready when you arrive. Or you should be able to set an arrival time in advance so it’s ready for you.

    This!

I placed an order when I was just about to leave, which would give them time to get my order ready by the time I got there, only to find out they start preparing it once I’m there. I still have to wait 6-7 minutes for them to bring my food out :/

The way Tim handles this is they use geolocation to start your order when you’re near the place (how close?) and they also have a button “I’m here” to start preparing your order anyway. They should have the same thing.

Also, no Apple Pay, it’s a no no for me. I don’t want McDonald’s to have my credit card number registered. I don’t trust them.
