Nintendo Switch ‘Fastest-Selling’ Home Video Game System in U.S. History Says Company

Nintendo announced today their Switch console has “become the fastest-selling home video game system in U.S. history.”

After its launch on March 3, 2017, Nintendo Switch sales have surpassed 4.8 million units in the U.S. in ten months, according to the company’s internal sales figures. This surpasses the Nintendo Wii at 4 million and is the “highest total for the first 10 months of any home video game system in U.S. history.”

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO, in a press release. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

The Nintendo Switch so far has over 300 games created by third-party developers, while 2018 will see Nintendo-published titles such as Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and “a new game starring Yoshi.”
