Canadian startup PasswordBox has today announced in an official blog post that it will discontinue development and support for its app by the end of next year, while it transitions to the jointly developed ‘True Key’ app by Intel Security. “We will do our best to make sure we communicate the transition as clearly and smoothly as possible”, notes the blog. Meanwhile, the PasswordBox app will remain as-is for the immediate future, but there will be a few important changes.

“Starting December 15, 2015 — We will be removing support for PasswordBox on Firefox browsers. This is due to a new Firefox update that impacts the PasswordBox extension. We will be sending all Firefox users an email before discontinuing access on that platform.

As a PasswordBox user, we’ve reserved a True Key account for you. If you decide to claim it, you can create a profile using the email and master password associated with your PasswordBox account to migrate your information”.

For those who chose to transition to True Key, PasswordBox says that their existing subscription will be different from the True Key subscription, and the PasswordBox terms will not be transferred over either. Furthermore, every PasswordBox user will get a special subscription offer if they choose to migrate from PasswordBox to the True Key app. Also, new terms will apply.

To redeem your special True Key subscription offer, click here and create an account with the email and password you used for PasswordBox.
