MADD Canada, Uber Partner to Promote Safe Transportation During Calgary Stampede

Safe driving

MADD Canada and Uber are urging visitors to make safe and sober transportation plans for the Calgary Stampede 2018, which is set to run from July 6-15. Hundreds of Canadians are killed and tens of thousands are injured in crashes involving alcohol or drugs every year. Almost 100% of these deaths and injuries are preventable.

“Please leave the car at home if you’re going to be drinking alcohol or consuming drugs,” said MADD Canada Chief Executive Officer Andrew Murie. “Planning a sober ride home only takes a moment, and it can save lives. MADD Canada is proud to work with Uber to help prevent impaired driving through safe, sober transportation options.”

MADD Canada has partnered with Uber to promote safe, convenient and accessible transportation options so that people never take the risk of driving impaired.

“Uber is proud to partner with MADD Canada and raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving,” said Michael van Hemmen, General Manager for Cities. “At the touch of a button, Uber is a safe and smart alternative to driving to the Stampede grounds.”

Stampede-goers looking for a safe, sober and reliable ride home at the push of a button can go to Uber’s dedicated pickup area just outside of the Stampede grounds; the rider entrance is on 12Ave SE between 3rd St and Macleod Trail.
