Sony Will Launch First CarPlay-Supported Audio System in November for $499.99

Today, Sony Electronics announced its new XAV-AX100 in-car audio system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, giving users the ability to play a variety of media files, and get up to date information on the go.

The audio system includes smartphone connectivity, high-quality audio capabilities, and voice command features. Thanks to the inclusion of Apple’s CarPlay, user’s of Sony’s new system have access to Apple Maps, Apple Music, make phone calls, send text messages, and control various functions with the help of Siri. For those who use Android, you will be happy to know that the XAV-AX100 system is compatible with Android Auto, Google’s CarPlay alternative.

“Connecting your phone to your car has never been better with the option of Apple CarPlay. CarPlay allows you to use your phone in a safe and smart way whilst staying focused on the road, letting you access Apple Music, Maps, make phone calls, and send messages all through the touchscreen, or vocally with Siri®.”

In its announcement (via email), Sony highlights the systems sound quality, which it says can “overcome engine noise and reproduce clear sound at any volume with deep and punchy bass.”

Users will be able to purchase Sony’s XAV-AX100 in-car audio system for $499.99 when it launches in November.
