Starbucks Bringing Digital Tipping, eGift Option to Canada via iPhone App

Last year the Starbucks iPhone app gained a new digital tipping feature in the United States, which allows customers to leave a tip via the app when paying.

In today’s latest Starbucks iPhone app update release notes, the company announced the digital tipping feature will be making its way to Canada soon, noting “Stay tuned for some exciting features including Tipping in Canada.”

Also coming for Canadians will be the option to send eGifts, or Starbucks Cards directly from the iPhone app.

What’s New in Version 3.2.3
This release provides additional stability for Apple Pay™ (where available) and other fixes to enhance your Starbucks mobile experience.

Stay tuned for some exciting features including Tipping in Canada, and Gift in Canada and the UK.

With more and more people paying for their orange-mocha-frappuccinos with the Starbucks iPhone app, less cash is involved which means no loose change dumped into the tip bucket for your favourite barista. The digital tipping option hopes to bring this back. No timetable was given for the release, but the app gets updates every 1-2 months.
