Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks Releases a Typewriter iOS App

Following the footsteps of popular reality show star Kim Kardashian, two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks has now also released an app for iOS called ‘Hanx Writer’, that mimics the features of a typewriter onto an iPad screen (via The Wire). The app promises to recreate the experience of a manual typewriter, but with the ease and speed of an iPad.

“With Hanx Writer, you’ll hear the rhythm of your work with SHOOK SHOOK or FITT-FITT”, says Tom Hanks. There may be a number of typewriter apps already available on the iPad, none have Hanks’ stamp (SHOOK SHOOK) of approval or spirit, according to Stuart Westphal, Vice President of Games and Interactive and the app’s development studio Hitcents.

“It was Tom’s energy and enthusiasm that made an impression on me,” Westphal said in a statement. “I wanted to capture that spirit with this app. Nostalgic…yes! But also a tool that composes well and is enjoyable to use more than once.”
