Victoria’s First Apple Store Rumoured for Mayfair Mall

Victoria landmark, Mayfair Mall, is currently undergoing a huge $72 million expansion, which will add 100,000 square feet of retail space. Speculation is one of the new tenants could be an Apple Store, according to an unnamed source speaking to CHEK News:

Sources, who asked not to be named, told CHEK News that Chapters, H&M and the Apple Store are among the popular retailers who may have signed leases but mall management wouldn’t comment.

Mayfair Shopping Centre general manager Laura Poland responded to the rumour by saying, “I can’t confirm any retailers at this point,” adding “It’s normal practice in our industry to let our retailers make those announcements.”

Mayfair

No details so far have been released on new tenants, but Mayfair says two new “junior anchor tenants” will debut.

Apple’s website for job listings does show Victoria in its list of locations available for listing searches, but it’s too early to speculate if and when a store could debut in B.C.’s cap

Ivanhoé Cambridge manages Mayfair Shopping Centre, and the former also is responsible for various malls throughout Canada, which happen to have Apple Stores as tenants.

There’s been a tonne of people from the Lower Mainland moving over to Victoria and Vancouver Island. An Apple Store would be very popular here and Mayfair could be the ideal location.
