Mac Users Can Also Get Free Windows 10 Upgrade Till July 29

As pointed out by ZDNet, the Windows 10 free upgrade offer is not limited to PC users, but is also open to all Mac users who been actively using a Windows installation on their Mac computers. The deadline to claim the free Windows 10 upgrade offer however is July 29, which means you better hurry if you’re yet to grab your free copy of Windows 10, since after that date, the price is going to increase to $119.

Win 10

To qualify for the free Windows 10 upgrade, here’s what you need to be running on your Mac:

A genuine, activated copy of one of the following Windows editions:

  • Windows 7 – Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate
  • Windows 8.1 – Standard/Pro/Pro for Students

Also, if you are running Windows through Apple’s Boot Camp, you need a 64-bit Mac running OS X Yosemite or later to run Windows 10. You can view Apple’s list of compatible hardware here.

Before you start the Windows 10 installation, it is recommended that you download and install all Mac updates before carrying out the upgrade. If, after upgrading to Windows 10 in Boot Camp you find that things like audio or network aren’t working properly, you might need to update the Windows drivers for latest version of Boot Camp.

Have you got your free copy of Windows 10 yet?

I would say that you can install Windows 10 on any Mac currently running Windows 7.
I have a 2007 Mac Pro that had Windows 7 64bits installed. Windows 7 was installed using an all in one installation DVD that had both the 32 and 64 bits version.
Windows 7 64bits worked fine on my Mac Pro…
I then installed the Windows 10 64bits upgrade without any trouble… and I’ve been running it for a few months now without any problem.
