Apple Announces WWDC 2014 for June 2–6: Register Today

WWDC 2014

Apple announced today that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held between June 2 and 6 at San Francisco’s Moscone West. The company also announced that developers can apply for tickets by visiting the WWDC website and registering, starting now through 10 a.m., April 7.

Last year tickets for the WWDC sold out in less than two minutes. This year, however, Apple has adopted a completely different system – we can call it a lottery system – that will pick out registered developers randomly. Developers who register for the event will know their status by 5 p.m., April 7.

“We have the most amazing developer community in the world and have a great week planned for them,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Every year the WWDC audience becomes more diverse, with developers from almost every discipline you can imagine and coming from every corner of the globe. We look forward to sharing with them our latest advances in iOS and OS X so they can create the next generation of great apps.”

Scholarships will be offered this year to 200 students, who will be able to attend the conference for free. WWDC will feature more than 100 technical sessions, more than 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs, as well as the Apple Design Awards.
