Jailbreak Tweaks that Should Already Be in iOS

Here are some jailbreak tweaks that should already be in iOS. Could of any variation of these tweaks make an appearance in iOS 5? We’ll find out next week at WWDC.

ScreenDimmer – Lets you change the minimum time until the screen dims or turns off entirely. You can also set a whitelist so that the screen never turns off. The newest version also incorporates the accelerometer so if it detects movement the phone wakes up. However I find this somewhat gimmicky since you can just tap the screen and the backlight will come on. But overall, it should save a lot of battery since the default time until the screen dims is 1 minute. Price: $1.99

SBSettings – Must have tweak as I talked about before especially with two of the toggles that I always use: Push Notification SbSettings Toggle – lets you turn on/off push notification with one easy click, Ring & Silent Vibrate SbSettings Toggle – lets you turn vibrate on/off in any mode either silent or ringer mode. I find it very useful when I want to have the phone in complete silent more with no ring and no vibrate. Price: Free

App Switcher Brightness – Adds a brightness bar in the app switcher bar underneath the volume bar, which is useful when you want to change the brightness and you’re in a full screen app and have no access to sbsettings. Price: $0.99

App Switcher Ringer – similar to the stock volume slider but by clicking on the icon it changes it to the ring tone slider. Useful when you want to have different volumes in apps and ringer. Price: $0.99

TruPrint – The default Airprint doesn’t support many printers, this fixes that issue since it works with most printers. Price: $9.99

Lockinfo – Best tweak in my opinion for notification. Shows you missed calls, mail, sms, push notification, even twitter and the weather. Price: $7.99

mobileNotifier – Similar to Lockinfo, but in my opinion it is still missing a lot of features, so I’d have to say that Lockinfo is still my choice for notification usage. However, I do like how a small bar that’s pops up when you get a text message or a push notification even when you are in full screen mode which Lockinfo does not include. Price: Free

biteSMS – Must have text Message app that I talked about in previous post. Price: $ 8.99

iFile – A file browser that lets you view any type of file that you have on your iPhone. Price: $ 4.00

Mail Enhancer – Adds features such as signature to your emails and customizable sound and vibration notifications. There is also a feature to have your phone speak the sender’s name out. Price: $2.99

Attachment Saver – Saves any email attachment like mp3 or PDF and allows you to view it easily with iFile. Price: $ 3.00

Delete Mail – Lets you delete all your mail in a single click. Price: $0.99

Mark Read – Marks all your mail in your inbox as either read/unread. Price: $1.99

Data Deposit – Saves you app data and uploads it into Dropbox so you can restore it at a later time. Price: Free

One tweak that I would really like is to have the mail app be able to only show my unread mail. The Lockinfo mail some what does this but it would be nice to have it supported natively by the mail.app.

What other tweaks do you think should already be iOS whether or not it is available on Cydia?

Can’t you just go into the auto-lock settings for screen dimming/turning off? You can only vary between never and 5 min though.

Seriously it’s not that big a deal… all these brightness things lol what’s wrong with you?

right off the bat i can tell u that iFile type features will NOT be in any official iOS update (likely ever). gaining read/write access requires root privilages which is acheived via jailbreaking. apple will never open that up.  as for attachment saver, you might see something that allows it to be under file-sharing in iTunes.

  • Photoalbum+ is a must have.. Gives you the ability to create albums rIght on your iphone..

I would also like to see the ability to push not just inbox messages, but also subfolders.. But I haven’t found a tweak for that yet.. It means that if I want to get my emails that are in subfolders (through rules) I have to open the folder to receive them.. Pretty dumb if you ask me

    SBSettings yes 🙂
I don’t want to have to dig through the menus just to turn common things like WiFi and Bluetooth on and off.

SpringFlash & the SpringFlash SBSettings toggle should be added to your list.  Turn your phone into a nice little $800 flashlight.

GPower should also be part of iOS where you have the option to respring or reboot instead of turning off.
