DomeSkin: 3D Skins For iPhone 5/4S & iPad [REVIEW]

Even though the concept of protective vinyl skins for smartphones and other portable gadgets may not be a new one, the idea of so called “3D skins” does sound a bit fresh. Still, I wan’t expecting much but once I applied these DomeSkin 3D skins on my iPhones and iPad, I was amazed at how truly unique they look. Not just that, the smooth 3D design offers much better grip and feels extremely good in your hands too. Take a look!

The quality of material used in producing these DomeSkins is pretty impressive as it makes the graphics really pop out with vivid colours. The skins appears glossy with a silky smooth feel to them. The cushioned 3D construction offers better scratch-resistance in addition to minor bump protection, something the other thin vinyl skin products don’t.

The iPad version ($29.99) fully covers the front bezel with precise cutouts for camera and the home button. However, the rear of the iPad is left uncovered almost 1 cm all around the skin, which leaves the area scratch prone. This is actually the only flaw I found in these skins. But since I already had a ZAGG Skin on my iPad’s rear that covers all the edges, I chose to apply the DomeSkin right over it. Problem solved!

The iPhone 5 ($19.99) & iPhone 4S ($19.99) versions of DomeSkin fully cover the rear as well as the front bezels with accurate cutouts for camera, speaker and home button. I must mention that applying these DomeSkins is very easy. It took me less than 5 minutes to get a perfect install on each of my devices.
