Review: Griffin AirCurve for iPhone

Share:

Want to amplify the sound of your iPhone without using speakers? Because that is what the AirCurve does!

AirCurve by Griffin

The AirCurve is a sound amplifier for the iPhone or iPhone 3G (comes with dock adapters in the box) that does not use speakers or electricity. It can amplify the sound from your iPhone by 10dB and all you do is plug it into the dock. The clever design of the AirCurve turns your iPhone into an alarm clock or mini sound system that does not drain the iPhone battery or require any additional batteries itself.

The AirCurve is a simple, translucent designed stand for your iPhone but on the inside is a coiled waveguide “horn” that collects the sound from your iPhone and amplifies it and projects it into any direction you want.

Moreover, as I said earlier, the AirCurve acts as a dock for your iPhone as well. Griffin has added a pass-through slot so that you can feed the iPhone USB cable through the AirCurve and now you can charge your iPhone while it is in the AirCurve.

Currently, the AirCurve can be picked up at the Griffin online store for $15.99

Enjoy!

AirCurve fits iPhone 3G and original iPhone

  • I got mine at London Drugs for 15.00 cdn plus Tax of course!

It has some pros and cons though! It does a good job amplifying but if you have a iphone case then it has to come out each time. I found that the Giffin Wave cases still allow use whilst still in the case.

The sound of the aplified from Iphone is still not the best quality sound you would want. It is perfect for by you desk in my cubicle to fill the white noise. That is where mine sits and the pro is that it looks great and no power is need and has small foot print.

Another thing while minor to think about is it you need to take your iphone or ipod with you on the go it is not that convienent to dock it with the computer as the cord placement is not optimal for in and out removal. You have to feed the sync cord througth the underside and thread it through the base and then plug it in to the bottom of the ipod. then yank it out and re thread again when you want to plug it in again etc…

Over all though it it was outta 5 i would give it 4.5 design, 5 for innovation and simplicity and 4 ease of use and 3.5 function.
