SPIGEN Cases: iPad Mini Hardbook & Leather Zipack For New iPad [REVIEW]

From tempered glass screen protectors to premium leather folio cases, Spigen has been setting the benchmark for past many years in just about every category. I’ve tried and reviewed tons of iPhone / iPad accessories from the company and have always adored them for their style and durability. Once again, both the cases that we’ll be looking at today offer great functionality and excellent all around protection. Full review continues after the jump.

First up is the Spigen iPad mini Hardbook case ($39.99) which is available in Black, White, Navy and Pink colour options. As the name implies, it is a hardcover bookbinding style case that encloses the iPad mini in a plastic hard shell. The case itself is made up of synthetic, textured leather.

The Hardbook case features a non-slip contrasting fabric material inside. Once the iPad is snapped into place inside the plastic hard shell, the case encloses the device completely, leaving only the necessary cutouts for accessing ports and buttons. The rear features a camera hole so you’re not required to remove your device to snap pictures.

Like always, all the cutouts on this Spigen case are precise and easily accessible. The case also features embedded magnetics for automatic ON/OFF, allowing it to function like the Apple Smart Cover. The magnets automatically trigger the Sleep/Awake function when opening or closing the cover. Best of all, the case works as an ideal stand for watching videos or FaceTime video chat, a feature you cannot go without in any functional iPad case.

Moving on to the Spigen Zipack Case for new iPad ($64.99), it is a premium quality zipper style faux leather case available in two finishes i.e matte Black and glossy Enamel Red. The one in Red is a special edition Ava Karen series case with gold accents, that seems to get inspiration from the world of fashion.

As seen in other Ava Karen cases, the Zipack has the Ava Karen logo branded onto it on a thin metallic plate, giving it the look of a high-end designer case. The shiny red quilted case features a zipper structure for secure protection of the iPad. The high quality zipper works nice and smooth. The inside of the case is made up of suede material and features tabs for the iPad to be placed in both vertical and horizontal viewing angles, making it one of the rare cases that feature both a zipper and a stand.

The Zipack case is stylish, protective and very convenient to carry. And with its innovative interior stand, I have absolutely no problem recommending it to anyone looking for a classy, yet functional iPad case.
