Charge Your iPhone While Camping, With Fire!

Camping season is upon us. If you are as much of an iPhone nerd as I am, you know you are taking your iPhone with you, if you’re going camping. Keeping my iPhone charged while camping has always been a concern. I’ve used the cases with the extra battery like the Mophie Juice Pack. I’ve used rechargeable battery packs, like the ZAGGsparq. I have also tried solar powered charging devices. These all do the job just fine, but this new camp stove has a USB port for charging, built right in. Whenever I’m cooking something, or just keeping warm, I could be charging my iPhone at the same time!

  • Powers all USB-chargeable devices including smartphones, LED lights, GPS and many others.
  • Fast to boil.
  • Lights quickly and easily.
  • Burns sticks, pine cones, pellets and other biomass.
  • Folds for easy packing.
  • Packed size: 8.25 x 5″.
  • Weight: 2 Lbs 1 oz  /  935 grams.

As a camp stove, it is a nice compact, efficient stove, but the fact that it doubles as a charger for any USB device, is terrific. The stove burns small twigs and branches. The heat then powers a small generator, that turns a fan that blows air into the flames, increasing the efficiency of the fire. The generator then has enough power left to charge any kind of USB device. Amazing.

I know some camping “purists” will say that we shouldn’t be bringing our phones and gadgets out in the woods with us, but I’ll assume that since you are reading this blog, you are not going anywhere without your iPhone! 😛

The BioLite Camp Stove will retail for $129, and is expected to ship this spring summer. You can reserve yours now, at their Shopify page.
