Electronic Arts To Acquire Firemint

Electronic Arts is one of the world’s largest game publishers and they have a campus setup here in Metro Vancouver based in Burnaby. They continue to push out amazing titles such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012 for iOS.

Their latest move is the acquisition of Australian-based Firemint, famous for their mega iOS hits Flight Control and Real Racing series.

MELBOURNE, Australia & REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced an agreement to acquire Firemint Pty Ltd., the leading independent mobile development studio. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Firemint brings a proven powerhouse of creative talent to EAi, with original hits Flight Control and Real Racing for iPhone® and iPadâ„¢, and an attractive future slate of games. The deal is not material to EA overall and is expected to close within four weeks. Financial details are not disclosed.

Great move by EA, and congrats to Firemint. Can’t wait to see what these two can conjure up for iOS gaming.
