Food & Drink: A New Category In iTunes App Store

A few days back, we reported that iOS developers were informed by Apple about the App Store getting a new “Food & Drink” category and it seems that the change has now gone live in the iTunes App Store. Apps like A Taste of Montreal, Urbanspoon, Starbucks, Epicurious, Allrecipes.com etc. are all listed in this category.

The new Food & Drink category features over 2800 Paid and 4000 Free apps in the iPhone section and over 1200 Paid and 1000 Free apps in the iPad section.

Apple has previously detailed that  Food & Drink category includes “apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink”. The new category does not include diet, grocery shopping, coupon clipping, or food-related game apps.

The Food & Drink category can be accessed directly at this link.
