Google iOS App ‘Discover’ Section Gets Fresh Redesign

The Google iOS app makes it quick and easy to perform search queries and also view relevant news based on your preferences in the app’s Discover section, which is powered by machine learning.

Recently, the Discover section on iOS gained a refreshed look, which appears to now fall in line with Google’s Material Design principles. Google says “the new design puts your interests front and centre with more control than ever.”

The Discover tab can be customized to show the local weather, plus news, sports and more based on your preferences. Particularly for sports fans, it does a great job of curating sports highlights from YouTube, making for a great highlight reel (almost like the days of Sports Page but without Don Taylor).

The update also brings a fresh font to go with more spacing for cards in the Discover tab, making your news, videos and other stories easier to distinguish when scrolling.

Last spring, the Google iOS app launched Google Lens integration in Canada, allowing users to identify objects with their iPhone camera.
