Google announced new changes coming to Google News at its recent I/O developer conference, noting the new app would come with a brand new redesign, for an improved reading experience.

The new app now shows a smarter briefing with top five stories for users ‘right now’ at the splash screen, along the ‘For You’ tab. You can edit your settings to choose your language and region, or leave it as default.

Under the ‘Headlines’ tab, it shows more news stories from across Canada, the world and other categories like business and technology. When a ‘Full Coverage’ link appears, users can tap it and see more sources on a particular story, including prominent social media links and more.

Users can hit the ‘Favourites’ tab to follow different news sources, while the Newsstand tab lets you view a variety of different sources optimized for mobile format and ‘find special offers’.
