Toronto-based Paytm Canada has updated their iOS and Android apps with a refreshed look and user experience. The app allows Canadians to pay for their bills using a credit card, while also collecting rewards points to be used towards a variety of gift cards, such as iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon and more.
“Since launching the Paytm Canada app in 2017, we have listened to the valuable feedback from thousands of Canadians and we are thrilled to be able to put these insights into action and deliver an exceptional user experience,” said Harinder Takhar, CEO, Paytm Canada, in a statement. “Every Canadian has a bill to pay, and our new features and incentive program seamlessly rewards our customers for a tedious yet necessity part of our everyday lives.”
What makes Paytm unique is it allows Canadians to pay for property taxes and utility bills with their credit cards, whereas normally credit card payments are not accepted by municipalities. This allows savvy points collectors to double dip on their rewards, both from their credit card and through Paytm Rewards.
New features mean Canadians collect 1 point for every dollar spent, which can be redeemed at national brands such as Uber, Tim Hortons, ESSO, Just Eat, Indigo, Sport Chek and more. Free gift cards can be redeemed with a minimum of 5,000 points.
Users can now also purchase gift cards with a credit card and also be topped up with Paytm points, while points can also be converted into Paytm Cash, to be used instantly toward bill payments or to send money across Canada.
Parent company Paytm has over 230 million users worldwide and is backed by investors Ant Financial, Softbank, SAIF Partners and more recently, Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
When users sign up, they’ll get 500 welcome points. If you use promo code PTM6121249 to sign up and pay a bill of at least $50, you’ll get 2000 bonus points. We’ve tried Paytm before to pay a utility bill and it worked just fine.
