Readdle Launches Calendars 5 for iOS, Debuts at 20% Off [Review]

Last week we told you how Readdle made its popular Calendars+ app a free download as it was set to exit the App Store and be replaced by the brand new Calendars 5. The latter is now live in the App Store, on sale for $4.99 (20% off).

Calendars 5 syncs with your iOS calendar, Reminders and Google Calendar. It understands natural language input to create events for you and the app also supports the iPad. Readdle tells us Calendars 5 is the only calendar app available which lets you set custom reoccurring events.

We had a chance to beta test Calendars 5 for the past week and we can confidently say it now acts as our main calendar app on the iPhone. The day, week, month and list views are great and the calendar had no issue syncing with multiple Google Calendars.

Below is an example of the natural language feature of the app. Just type an entry and new fields will automatically be filled for you. As I typed ‘Starbucks’ it was autofilled, as I went on to enter ‘tomorrow’ the date set itself, and the moment ‘3pm’ appeared the time set itself too (you can customize default event durations).

One of my favourite parts of Calendars 5 is the week view. It’s easy to read and the best feature is how to modify events. Want to change one event to another day? Just tap, drag and drop it into the preferred day and it’s done. No more going in and manually editing an event.

At $4.99, is Calendars 5 worth it? It is on the ‘premium’ end of apps, but if it is able to help you stay organized in an easy and seamless way–it could be well worth the investment. Readdle does hold periodic sales, so you could hold out if you’re looking for a deal. But for those who are looking for a replacement for the new calendar in iOS 7, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.
