If you are a subscriber to Rogers Sports & Media’s (formerly known as Rogers Media) Sportsnet, the latter’s iPad app has been updated to support picture-in-picture.

According to an update to the Sportsnet iPad app on Monday morning, the release notes mention, “iPad PIP mode for SN NOW live streams.” Also new is an update to the iPad listen section display, while other unmade “minor improvements” were also released.

The Sportsnet iPad app allows access to SN Now live streams, while also access to live TV streams for those with a cable TV subscription.

Apple introduced picture-in-picture mode for the iPad when iOS 9 was released back in 2016, but later expanded the feature in iOS 13. When iOS 14 is released this fall, it will bring picture-in-picture mode to the iPhone for the first time.

With the NHL and NBA playoffs and other sports back into full swing post-COVID-19 lockdowns, being able to have picture-in-picture mode while streaming live sports is a good thing.
