The Globe and Mail for iPhone and iPad has been updated to now let logged in users listen to news articles, a feature that originally debuted on the web last June, but has now made its way to its mobile app.

The new audio feature allows for articles to be read in English, French or Mandarin, automatically generated using AI technology from Amazon Web Services. The audio is naturally sounding and users can choose male or female voice options.

Users must login or create a free Globe and Mail account to use the audio article feature.

“This new update also features some improvements to overall app efficiency, as well as a fix for crashes on older iOS versions,” explains The Globe and Mail.
