Walmart Canada Expands Grocery Delivery with Cornershop App in GTA

Walmart Canada has expanded its grocery delivery partnership with Cornershop, which offers an iOS and Android app. The expansion means 14 Walmart stores in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) now support Cornership, up from five.

Cornershop offers on-demand grocery delivery in 60 minutes. Walmart is the delivery service’s first official partner outside of Latin America.

“Customers in the GTA have more choices than ever for how to shop for on-demand groceries at Walmart,” said Daryl Porter, Vice President, eCommerce Operations and Logistics at Walmart eCommerce, in a statement.

“By introducing more shopping options at Walmart, we’re helping make life easier and more convenient without compromising on our everyday low prices. Cornershop and other delivery services are one way that we can provide that easy, convenient access,” added Porter.

Walmart customers can order groceries for delivery through the Cornershop app or website. Once an order is placed, a shopper heads to Walmart, picks out your order, then calls you at the end to confirm replacements or to add more to your order.

Cornershop offers a $99/year subscription service offering free delivery on orders over $40 CAD and other discounts.

The expansion with Cornershop means Walmart stores in Scarborough, Mississauga, Malton, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Erin Mills and Downsview are now part of the delivery service.
