Apple Appoints New Corporate Treasurer and Determines Other Executive Promotions

Apple has chosen its new corporate treasurer. As a part of the company’s recent wave of executive promotions, Michael Shapiro has been selected to step into the role following the retirement of Gary Wipfler. Apple has also selected key employees to the vice president level in various sectors of the company as well.
According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, sources say that Shapiro has been chosen as he has been a longtime member of its treasury team. As a part of a wave of promotions internally as Apple, Shapiro will oversee Apple’s $200 billion. Although Apple has yet to formally announce the promotion, Shapiro will be listed as a member of Apple’s Reno, Nevada-based cash management group Braeburn Captial. Last quarter, Apple had a reported $194 billion in cash and securities.

In addition to the promotion of Shapiro, Apple has gone ahead and promoted multiple executives to various VP positions within the company. These new VPs will the other roughly 100 other executives in vice president roles, all of which report to Apple’s group of senior vice presidents or directly to Tim Cook, CEO of the company, CFO Luca Maestri and COO Jeff Williams.

The first notable promotion included in the report is Alan Gilchrist, a member of Apple’s custom chip development team. Gilchrist has been promoted to vice president of engineering for custom silicon and battery technology, as indicated by his LinkedIn profile.

Additionally, Eden Spears, a member of brand marketing for iPhone and iPad, has been promoted to VP of the brand for the entirety of Apple. Spears will be leading brand marketing initiatives for additional products such as Apple Watch and AirPods, with packaging and retain efforts integrated as well.

Finally, Stacey Lysik and Ron Huang have been promoted to vice-presidential roles by Apple’s head of software engineering Craig Federighi. Lysik previously worked as senior director of software program management, while Huang was senior director of sensing and connectivity.
