Bell Let’s Talk Day Raises $6.2 Million Through 125 Million+ Interactions

The annual Bell Let’s Talk Day for 2016 kicked off yesterday, with the company again donating 5 cents for every text or phone call made by its customers, tweets using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk and shares of their Facebook page image.

The result? Bell says 125,915,295 total interactions occurred, helping to raise a record $6,295,764.75, beating last year’s total. The company says the #BellLetsTalk hashtag was the top trend in Canada and “the most-used hashtag in the world” with 6,826,114 total tweets and retweets, a jump of 43% compared to 2015.

Bell says their total donations towards mental health programs now sits at $79,919,178.55.

While most people tweeted the hashtag to raise money, some used the day to share their own negative experiences while working at Bell, like this former BNN employee who claimed working at the company resulted in “mental health issues and no benefits.”
