Looking to get an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS on the cheap? Check out the “refreshed” iPhones from Telus.
Telus is offering a limited quantity of low priced refreshed iPhones on a 3-year agreement. The refreshed iPhones are exclusive to the Telus online store, which means they are not available in a Telus store or Apple Store or any other wireless store.
So what exactly is “refreshed” (refurbished)? The easiest definition is “not new”. As Telus puts it:

Refreshed iPhones are available for a special price in limited quantities only on a 3 year term. These units are exclusive to our webstore.
These unused or lightly used iPhones, in like new condition, were returned within 14 to 30 days from the date of purchase.
They’ve been loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards, with each having gone through an extensive quality check.
Some refreshed iPhones may have final scratches.
Return policy

Warranty

So a few things to note:
1.) These iPhones are in “like new condition”

3.) They have iPhone OS 3.1.3 and have gone through quality checks
4.) They carry a 90-day warranty (new iPhones come with 1-year)

16GB iPhone 3GS Black/White: $149.00 (with 3-year agreement)
32GB iPhone 3GS Black/White: $249.00 (with 3-year agreement)
To compare with a new iPhone, the 16GB and 32GB cost $199 and $299 respectively on a 3-year agreement. So that gives buyers a $50 cost savings. However the iPhone 3G normally costs $99 on a 3-year agreement, so $29 for the iPhone 3G is a decent savings.
To compare with other wireless carriers, Rogers and Fido also carry refreshed iPhones. Both carriers have similar terms as the Telus iPhones but Rogers/Fido offer a 6-month warranty from the date of shipment and only offer the iPhone 3G.
