As expected, Virgin Mobile Canada will be launching the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Canada in 2010. An official statement was released this morning.
Bell Canada acquired Virgin Mobile Canada in May 2009 and since Bell has just received the iPhone in Novemer 2009, they now plan to move the device to their Virgin Canada brand. The iPhone will be available at Virgin stores, Virgin online and Apple Stores across Canada.
There is no word on price plans yet, but don’t expect any of the typical deals that Virgin Canada offers. The iPhone devices will require 3-year contracts and a voice and data plan, mimicking the current model for Bell iPhones.
As for the device, standard pricing applies:
- 8GB iPhone 3G (Black): $99.00
- 16GB iPhone 3GS (Black/White): $199.00
- 32GB iPhone 3GS (Black/White): $299.00
A rather odd time to launch an iPhone considering there will likely be a new iPhone released in Summer 2010, but at least current Virgin customers will be happy.
