Bell flanker Virgin Mobile appears to be offering up a special promotion for existing prepaid customers logging into their accounts online.
The offer is a “Member Deal Alert!”, which is offering up a $45/6GB plan with unlimited Canada-we calling and texts, on contract, with a free Samsung Galaxy A8. The offer says the $35 activation fee will be waived and the deal is available online or in store.

Virgin Mobile currently sells the 32GB Samsung Galaxy A8 for $599 outright, so you could just sign up for this offer to get the $45/6GB plan, then sell the free phone.
An equivalent plan for postpaid Virgin Mobile members to get the Galaxy A8 for $0 upfront and 6GB of data would cost $75 per month.
Virgin Mobile’s website right now also lists a promotion offering an “up to $50 bonus gift card promo”, in the form of Visa gift cards available online and in select stores. If no gift cards are available, customers will get in-store credit instead.
If you’re a prepaid Virgin Mobile customer, you may want to log in to your online account and see if this offer is available. It’s one way for Virgin Mobile to entice you to become a postpaid customer instead.
