According to the Meridian Booster, Bill Earl, director, Lloydminster Exhibition, said “The fact we are able to provide this service to our clientele, they are going to be excited because today technology is basically running 90 per cent of what we do here. Most everything has some form of requirement for internet, and this is what’s going to provide it.”

The new SaskTel Wi-Fi is an upgrade from what was previously available; the new offering from SaskTel offers faster download speeds, to bring new capabilities for those in meetings to stream videos, presentations and more, at the site located in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

“If you’re going to have business meetings at the Lloyd Exh facilities you now have Select Wi-Fi, which will provide you with enough bandwidth if you are going to be showing video, or presentations and things along those lines,” said Greg Jacobs, communications manager, SaskTel.

Speeds will vary depending on how many users are connected to hotspots, but a recent test saw download and upload speeds of over 50 Mbps.

The Lloydminster Exhibition Association originally contacted SaskTel on how to improve Wi-Fi for visitors and the latter agreed to help.

Lloydminster MLA Colleen Young said “We know the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association brings in numerous events – large events – in our community such as the Colonial Fair … but as well as the oil show and our booths at Christmas time … it’s very important for those businesses that want to participate to be able to do business while they are here, and that means connectivity.”

The Wi-Fi password for SaskTel Select at the exhibition will be posted throughout the building for those requiring online access.
