Vancouver-based Roam Mobility has launched a Sponsorship Program for journalists and bloggers to experience their U.S. roaming service for free to enable access to and sharing information while down south.

The company believes their new sponsorship program will help media stay online without paying a massive bill when roaming in the U.S.:

Roam Mobility was built on the belief that everyone deserves that kind of freedom, and that nobody should have to pay a fortune for it. Especially not the people who need it most.

That’s why we launched the Roam sponsorship program.

It’s pretty simple. If you’re a journalist or blogger traveling to the US for a conference or other work-related event, we’ll give you a free Roam Mobility plan to help you stay connected during your stay.

The company says those eligible will require an unlocked phone or Roam device, and a Roam SIM card for Talk+Text+Data. For those without unlocked phones, the company will provide a Breeze Phone or Liberty Hotspot at a discounted rate and load it with the plan you need. Roam tells us there are “no defined limits” but each case will be discussed after applicants apply to the program.

The company notes some events their sponsored attendees have been to include SXSW (which inspired this program), CES and WWDC. This is a pretty awesome program for journalists and bloggers requiring voice and data access in the U.S.–you can apply for the program here.

Earlier today, we reviewed what it was like to use Roam Mobility in Florida on an iPhone 5.
