If you’re on a limited data plan with Fido, the company today released a video detailing how you can ‘take control’ of your data by changing background refresh settings on your iPhone, part of a series detailing ‘tips & tricks’ for customers.
Fido’s latest video explains how you can disable background app refresh as one way to save data. The company says “most apps are set to background app refresh,” causing customers to use “more data than you want.”
The instructions tell you to go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh on your iPhone, then toggle off apps that you don’t want using data in the background.
“That’s it now you can take control of your data usage today for your Fido iPhone,” concludes the video.
Another video says you can toggle off Wi-Fi Assist to save data. Wi-Fi Assist switches your iPhone over to cellular networks when a weak Wi-Fi signal is detected. Without turning off this feature, you might be “burning through more data than you realize,” says Fido.
