Rogers as announced this afternoon its 5G network powered by Ericsson has launched in Fredericton, New Brunswick, which it says is the first 5G launch in Atlantic Canada.
The company says it is also powering 5G at Ignite Fredericton’s Innovation Lab at Cyber Centre in Knowledge Park, run by CyberNB.
“As we expand into Fredericton, over time our 5G technology will transform the way we live, work, and do business in New Brunswick,” said Matt MacLellan, President of Atlantic Region, Rogers Communications, in a statement.
“In partnership with Rogers and Fredericton Innovation Partnership stakeholders, we are thrilled to jointly announce Fredericton’s digital evolution as ‘Atlantic Canada’s First 5G City’!” said Mike O’Brien, Mayor, City of Fredericton.
Rogers says its 5G network is currently available in over 60 cities and towns in Canada and is the country’s largest. Rogers 5G is available for customers on its Ignite unlimited data plans. While free for now, 5G network access will cost Ignite customers $15 per month starting in the spring of 2021.
