Rogers Releases Android 11 for Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Customers

Android 11 note 10+

If you’re a Rogers customer with a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, the wireless carrier has started rolling out its Android 11 software update, as of yesterday.

iPhone in Canada reader @suttonmontreal let us know his Note 10+ received the update on Thursday. The surprise software update comes despite Rogers’ own OS upgrade schedule not mentioning the release of Android 11 for Note 10+ users.

Android 11 brings a new user interface for notifications, new chat bubbles, new media controls, improved privacy permissions and more.

Unlike iOS updates which come straight from Apple, Android updates first need to be tested by wireless carriers, and then released to customers.

Earlier this week, Telus released Android 11 for its Note 10+ customers on January 20. Bell has not released Android 11 for the Note 10+ according to its website.

Update Jan. 25, 2021: A Rogers spokesperson reached out to say, “This update actually happened on Jan 19 and was rolled out by Samsung. The device manufacturers actually set the timelines and roll out the updates. [As] the carrier, we do test the updates on our network in advance of the update.”
