Sasktel 3G+ Network Expands To 26 New Areas

This week, SaskTel announced that its wireless network has expanded its 3G+ wireless coverage to serve 26 additional locations across the province of Saskatchewan.

“Construction of the 3G+ network is a significant development for SaskTel and its customers in Saskatchewan,” said Bill Boyd, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “When the network is complete in 2011 it will be available to 98% of the population.”

Each of the 26 new locations are being called “Tower Locations”. In other words, each area has received a new wireless tower. For the full list of new areas, check out this link.

The 3G+ network provides users with increased bandwidth and download speeds of up to 21 megabits per second, similar to Telus, Bell and Rogers. While the iPhone is not an officially supported device by SaskTel (yet), the network is compatible with the iPhone meaning that both iPhone and other international roaming customers will be able to use their device on the SaskTel 3G+ network.
