Freedom Mobile Launches New Ad Campaign Featuring Will Arnett [VIDEO]

Shaw’s Freedom Mobile has launched a new advertising campaign, leveraging how the carrier can solve “expensive pain points” experienced by customers with incumbents, by deploying Canadian actor Will Arnett.

The new ad campaign sees Arnett as “the champion for the average wireless consumer in Canada,” who is the “unwavering voice of truth that seeks to expose unreasonable industry practices for data overages.”

Customers in B.C., Alberta and Ontario will start seeing the new campaign now; check out one of the first ads below:

“This campaign challenges the conventions of the Canadian wireless industry by taking aim at the practices that charge wireless users astronomical fees when they go over their data limits,” said Paul McAleese, President, Wireless, Shaw Communications, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “Transparency means being open and honest with customers to provide a simpler, better and more affordable wireless experience. There are no surprise fees with Freedom Mobile — what you see is what you pay.”

The company’s press release is quick to point out how data overage fees in Canada have reached new levels, mentioning how some carriers now charge up to $100 per gigabyte (Bell and Telus, btw).

Freedom Mobile recently launched ‘low-cost’ data plans, while offering an Auto Pay discount for those customers who set up pre-authorized payments, to go with their Big Gig plans, such as the $50/10GB plan after Digital Discount.

What do you think about this new ad campaign by Freedom? Is it better than Freddy the Freedom Bear?
