Shaw and Freedom Mobile Stores Temporarily Close Due to COVID-19

Shaw Communications has announced its corporate Shaw and Freedom Mobile stores will temporarily shut down due to the threat of COVID-19.

The closure will see 116 locations across Canada close until March 27 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the closure, all Freedom Mobile and Shaw employees will be paid for the time off.

“The health and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority,” said Brad Shaw, CEO, Shaw Communications, in a statement. “Clearly these are extraordinary circumstances and this step will help our communities and health care professionals across the country better tackle this growing pandemic by helping to flatten the curve and reduce the number of individuals who can be exposed to COVID-19.”

The CEO says there are still “digital and self-serve options” available for customers to keep them connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the weekend, Shaw announced its Shaw Go WiFi network would go free for the public to use, to support those seeking to get online during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
