Shaw Go WiFi Now Free for the Public During Coronavirus Pandemic
Shaw Communications has announced its Shaw Go WiFi network is now free for the public to use throughout Western Canada, regardless if they are a customer or not.
Starting today and “until further notice”, Shaw says there will be “unrestricted access to Shaw Go WiFi network hotspots regardless of whether or not they’re a Shaw customer.”
“This access will be especially important in helping emergency services and first responders stay connected as they remain steadfast in supporting our communities,” explained Shaw in a press release.
“As the world navigates through the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become even more important for people to ensure they’re able to stay in touch with friends, families and loved ones, and for first responders to stay connected wherever they are,” says Paul McAleese, incoming President, Shaw Communications Inc., in a statement.
To access the Shaw Go WiFi network, just choose ShawGo in your device’s Wi-Fi settings. You can also download the Shaw Go WiFi Finder app to locate the nearest hotspot near you, or visit shaw.ca/wifi.
“Open access to our Shaw Go WiFi network will give all Western Canadians the free, easy-to-access connectivity they need to stay connected and up to date on all COVID-19 news and information as it happens,” added McAleese.
The Shaw Go WiFi network has over 100,000 hotspots across Canada at a variety of public and private places.
Earlier today, Rogers, Videotron, TekSavvy and Telus announced they would be waiving internet data overages for home internet customers (Telus/Koodo users stuck in Level 3 areas can get free wireless data roaming).
