If you’re trying to negotiate with Telus-owned Koodo’s loyalty department, here’s an example of what you might be able to nab, according to a user on RFD.

User ‘slim3605’ is a Koodo customer on a $40/9GB plan (4GB + $0 5GB add-on). The user told the Koodo loyalty department about the $45/25GB and $400 device credit offered by Virgin Mobile, as part of a ‘winback’ plan to lure him back to Bell.

After being told of the Virgin Mobile ‘winback’ offer, the RFD user was offered the following:

  • $0 6GB add-on (from a combination of a 4GB + 2GB add-on)
  • $5/month off for 24 months ($120 total)
  • Device credits: $50 with Tab Basic; $75 with Tab Mid; $100 on Tab Plus

In the end, ‘slim3605’, based in Alberta, accepted the free 6GB add-on and $5/month credit. Combined with their current plan, this resulted in a $35 plan ($40-$5 credit) with 15GB of data (9GB + 6GB add-on).

Again, this is one of those ‘your mileage may vary’ (YMMV) situations, but the information may be useful if you are trying to negotiate with Koodo for a better plan. So far, no one else in the RFD thread has commented on securing the details offered by Koodo’s loyalty department.

Update July 8: According to Telus, this plan above “was a very rare exception with extenuating circumstances,” and the plan itself is not an in-market plan.

“When customers are looking to change their plans we encourage them to consider our in-market plans either via Self-Serve or by calling us and our agents will work with them to find an in-market plan that works for their evolving needs,” said a Telus spokesperson in an email to iPhone in Canada.
