TELUS has announced this morning it will reach a historic milestone ahead of Canada’s 150th birthday: having invested $150 billion in operations and infrastructure since 2000 in our great nation.

Through 2020, Telus will also invest an additional $1.5 billion in Ontario, including $250 million in 2017 alone, for new communications infrastructure and technology.

Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and CEO, said in an emailed statement, “Indeed, I have no doubt that the unwavering commitment of the TELUS team and our investment of more than $150 billion in innovation and technology over the past 17 years have contributed significantly to Canada being one of the most connected places on earth.”

The company says its over 8,000 employees (“team members) and retirees in Ontario have added over $90 million and 639,000 volunteer hours since 2000. Telus adds it has also paid and remitted $2.5 billion in various taxes in the province since 2000.
