Telus Waiving Long Distance Charges for Phone Calls to Australia Until January 31

Telus has announced it will be waiving all long distance charges for customers calling friends and family in Australia during the country’s devastating wildfires. The following charges are going to be waived from January 1 to 31, 2020:

  • Home phone calls to Australia
  • Mobile phone calls to Australia
  • Text messages to Australia

A Telus spokesperson told iPhone in Canada via email, “During disasters like the Australian wildfires, TELUS knows how critical it is for customers to stay connected with loved ones. The wildfires may impact customers currently roaming in Australia, or customers who need to contact family and friends there.”

Telus also has launched a text donation program for Canadians to donate towards disaster relief, raising nearly $50,000 to date. Telus customers can text DONATE to 41010 from your personal mobile phone to send $20 towards wildfire relief efforts.
